A building contractor has been awarded a multi-million-pound contract by Conwy County Council to build a disability respite centre.
Wynne Construction Ltd has been awarded the contract to build the new Disability Respite Centre and Café, Shop and Support Facilities at Bron y Nant, Dinerth Road, Colwyn Bay.
The council says the cost of the build is £5.5million, which will be funded through the Welsh Government’s Integrated Care Fund (ICF) and prudential borrowing.
A council spokeswoman commented; “Bron y Nant, near Colwyn Bay Crematorium, is being developed into a Disability Respite Facility and Complex Care day centre on the top site.
“The Disability Respite Facility will provide five fully furnished apartments, communal space and support staff accommodation for those with disability support needs. The Complex Care day centre will provide daily respite services for those with complex needs.
“On the lower site, Bryn Euryn Nurseries will be developed to provide a café, shop and plant selling area, and the access to the cemetery and nurseries will be integrated.
“Wynne Construction Ltd will move on site from 26 April and the work to construct the Disability Respite Centre and Café, Shop and Support Facilities is expected to take about 60 weeks.”
