A ceremony took place at North Wales Police Headquarters in Colwyn Bay in honour of National Police Memorial Day, which remembers those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The ceremony was led by Deputy Chief Constable Richard Debicki with one of the force chaplins, Ant Howe.

A minute’s silence was held at 11 am to remember police officers, friends and colleagues who have been killed or died whilst on duty.

Also present were the families of two police officers who lost their lives whilst on duty who attended the ceremony and lit a candle in their memory.

A police spokeswoman commented: “One of the aims of National Police Memorial Day is to demonstrate to relatives, friends and colleagues of fallen officers that their sacrifice is not forgotten, and we were happy to have their families join us today to remember them, as well as our other colleagues who have lost their lives in the line of duty.”
